This letter was written to some good friends when their 20 year old was killed on Christmas day 2006 and it was read at the funeral.
Dearest Mo and our Sunshine.
Love and love and more love and constant intercession to the Master comes from these Southern States and we join the multitudes who are touching heaven on behalf of you and your children Miss Jules, Little Katie, Bo, Robby-Boy and Sheets. We intend to press Heaven to reach you and relieve you in the Northeast with massive amounts of comfort and aid. No human golden words from us our darling’s, can attempt to ease your pain or enlighten your understanding concerning this aching grief and torture that has come upon you. No earthling can succor you like the Father of light above who has suffered personally the death and knows the piercings of separation from a child.
Mo and Sunshine, what can anyone of us say? I know you, yourselves have obeyed the command to weep with those who have gone through similar trials, and now we Christians in turn weep with you. We are sure the Lord has surrounded you with loved ones and friends and believers that are filled with sympathy for you. They come because they have known similar sorrow and anguish from their own lives and pasts. Allow them to love all seven of you, allow them to hold you quietly as you grieve, may they remember “words are not necessary” at this time, just love.
Only Heavens promises can bring any solace to those who loved your son Mo jr, and those who stand in this place today know that He that makes these promises will keep them, and you shall see your Mo once again. Family, friends and loved ones we would do well to listen to the words written by Mo’s Dad and Mum this very week, after the home going of this young lad. And I quote “God in His sovereignty, allowed nature to take its course” and “We feel God’s sustaining power helping us move forward…..and “We are trusting in who God is: His love, goodness and mercy, regardless of these circumstances.
What are God’s promises? You are loved ones! How is that you may ask. It is like this the love in action given by so many of you. Mo and Sunshine further wrote this. “George, Mo’s friend came to our house at 5:30 am to bring the news as the hospital could not reach us” bless you George you cared for your friend.
Miss Jules, Mo’s loving sister got there from South Dakota as quickly as she could get there. Miss Jules you are the best. Brother Yarrow’s “Mom and Dad, brothers and niece arrived at the hospital to support” and hold up their hands. Other family members left their Christmas activities and rushed to the scene on this Christmas morn. Patricia, and her parents arrived into that hospital like traveling angels. Sunshines fellow prison guards lent their love as Mo’s life was slipping away. Church members filled the hospital corridors and whispers of “Dear Jesus” could be heard in their intercessory prayers. Reports of people praying everywhere came pouring in. And what about those loyal friends of Mo’s nearly 100 strong making there way to room G828 you guys are awesome.
Yes, these are God’s promises “I will never leave you nor forsake you” and He never did, He sent you all and you did your part and are doing your part still today, you are all beautiful and Mo and Sunshine and siblings and family say thank-you , thank-you, thank-you. Mo and Sunshine didn’t hesitate in giving life that Christmas day as Mo passed to the 21 year old who had great need of a liver, and Mo’s kidney to a 16 year old and a further life gift of Mo’ s heart to a husband and father in Maine. God will never forget these acts. For when we do these things to others we are doing it unto God Himself, and God is no debtor to man.
Mo was in church two weeks ago, only heaven knows what was said between him and His maker. Our Christian love to you Mo and Sunshine and children we are with you in Spirit today. |
