I was in the Attic of a Property in the Process of running Cat-5e cabling for the 2nd Segment of Access Pont deployment for a Wireless Network. At the same time, I was marking “Drop Locations” for the Final Segment of AP's. As we were making our way toward a Fire Wall access opening, I had turned to point out an AP Location to my co-worker. NOTE: Keep in mind that we were making our way across Roof Truss Bases. In order that we not make any “mis-steps”, we were very cognizant of where we were stepping before any weight was placed on the next Truss. The Area in the Attic where we were, was, upon recollection, brighter then “usual”. Visibility was no problem. Anyway, as I turned my upper body, I heard a loud sound (somewhat like a very small jet engine), I immediately looked around to identify the source. When I looked down, I saw that it was coming from a PVC Fire Sprinkler 4-way union. I had noticed the union before I stopped in the vicinity, and had made sure that all precautions had been taken to “clear the area”. At that time, on the verge of pandemonium, I urged my co-worker to have the main sprinkler valve shut off.....NOW !!. Assessing the situation as best as I could, it appeared to me that the 4-way union had not “broken”, but had “separated” from the line to the Sprinkler Head for the Room below us. [By the way, it was a 3 Floor Hotel.....]

I watched the the ceiling collapse, (in one piece) from wall to wall, into the Room about 4 -5 mins after the water was shut-off. Nobody had opened the door to the Room, though I had heard the Staff say someone “….was in it…”. My 1st thought was the well-being of the Occupant. I used the Master Key we had been provided to gain access to the Room. The entire ceiling had collapsed from wall to wall. The Occupant was not in the Room.

Now, what does this little (true) story have to do with an answered Prayer ? I'll tell you.

I had been "dealing" with an Issue of Pride in my work. Upon realization of this, I had Prayed that The Lord help me to perform my work in more Humility and with less "grumbling".

Well, I can tell you that there is nothing more effective at inducing humility than being the propagating force in "taking out", ultimately, 7 Rooms of a 172 Room Hotel.

And that is how I saw God work (again !) in my Life. He does answer Prayers, and often times, in ways that we would NEVER expect....

Thank You, Jesus !!

(And Thank You, Jesus for a little thing called Insurance....!!)

It is good you have a sense that God works in ways differently then we would often expect, or hope. Glad that now one was hurt (other then your pride).
Water is an amazing thing: it provides life and it can quickly destroy anything in its path.
